A HUGE and BONSAI (dwarfed ornamental) trees in Mt. Apo

Bonsai trees spotted in boulders, Mt. Apo
sunset
sunrise
The day started from a tremendous sunrise and ended with an extraordinary sunset. If this is the first scene you will see in the first light of day, then you will know what I felt - simply awed! The place was cold and foggy but the air was filled with excitement of another trek, knowing there is a great adventure ahead of us.

An adventure it was! The place where the bonsai grew is a protected area, and respected by the mountaineers like me. The plants are well-preserved. They just grew naturally and you will wonder why how they did it. I mean, trees are supposed to grow taller and bigger, right? Not to these trees.  They are short. You might notice them as plants not trees. But they are as lovely as what they are.

Innumerable species of Bonsai are growing in Mt. Apo. They are not just for attraction... their roots prevent landslide which is common in the area and their stepping roots and climbing barks keep the soil in place. What a jaunting experience and it was all recorded.
