Owning Nikon D3100 and choosing the right lens

21st day of November 2010, not a pleasing date but I was hoarded and went to Davao City. Surfing Malls of Davao: NCCC, SM and Gaisano Mall, with a goal of buying a new D-SLR camera.

The 1st thing come to my mind is, Instead of new features or performance upgrade, Nikon D3000 focus on price and size that is most important to entry level D-SLR photographers. Although, D3000 does not has video recording, suitable for a newbie like me.

Went to G-Mall asking for D3000 unit of Nikon, but they only have body kit and the lens should be paid separately. Thinking, it’s not a good idea of buying them individually and the lens was too expensive. So I went to the next mall, SM, same offer as the previews, as will as NCCC mall.

Next thing come into my mind is, choosing a next unit the Nikon D3100, a little-bit difference in price. It has a video recording feature compared to D3000. I purchase Nikon D3100 and give a codename Hibalag D3100. The most crucial point of owning a D-SLR is base on features and photo quality so we need lenses.

Choose the right lens – the best point of using D-SLR is the ability to change lens. Nikon D3100 kit package come with AF-S NIKKOR 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6G which provide good zoom range and useful Image Stabilization.
I always recommend friends spend more budget on lens instead of camera body, because different camera body produce almost the same photo quality, but good lens produce much better photos.
